WP All Import Review – An easy plugin for WordPress Import

Manually putting data into WordPress can take a lot of time. This was something I learned from my time as a Content Manager. I used to spend hours copying and pasting product listings, uploading photos and filling out meta data. It was a lot of work and one reason I quit that line of work.

Although I could have created my own PHP script to transfer the files, I am not ashamed to admit that I am terrible at writing code that is more complex than the average CSS. Also, it is complicated to make something like this. It requires a lot of knowledge and time, something I didn’t have back then.

I needed a tool that could simplify complex situations. Today, I will share with you a WordPress plugin which accomplishes this feat with ease. It was not available when I needed it the most.

Instead of accumulating a lot of data, WP All Import allows you to sort and organize each piece of data in the correct place within WordPress. It’s as easy as loading a file to WP All Import and then dragging and dropping it into the correct place within WordPress.

Other features that you may find useful are:

  • Importing to any theme or plugin
  • Import images from any location
  • Perform automatic, schedule import updates
  • Add new data to existing content
  • Developers can use API hooks and PHP execution

You can also purchase four add-ons for WP All imports. These add additional functionality to the plugin and support services such as WooCommerce, which allow you to import product listings and associated data. These will be covered in more detail later. Let’s first look at how to import your initial data file.

How to Import an XML or CSV File Using WordPress All Import

This plugin allows you to import files into WordPress in three ways. Upload a file to your hard drive, download it from a URL or use an existing file from your server.

This tutorial will use a file already stored on my hard disk. This file is a simple XML file with blog post information. The tutorial will show you how to use the WP All Import plugin in order to import multiple blog posts and publish them onto your website.

Go to -> Import, then click Upload a File. Choose the file you want to import from your computer. This tutorial will allow me to upload blog posts. I would choose New Posts. Step 2.

WP All import should now display the number of elements in your file as well as how many will be imported per posting. Keep going to step 3.

This area is where WordPress maps the data from your file. Click and drag the title from your file to the box for the post title.

Do the same for setting the content of the post. Drag the data you want to include in your post’s contents and click and drag it over. Continue to step 4 by doing the same with your post’s tags and categories.

WP Import will recognize duplicates and not create duplicate copies if there are duplicates. To set the unique content type of each entry, click the auto detect button (usually the title). Continue

To start the import, click confirm. WP All Import will create your posts according to your custom settings. After the import is completed, navigate to Posts from your left WordPress menu. You will see all your new posts created and published.

As someone who’s had to manually import content into WordPress for many years, I can see the advantages of this plugin. It’s easy to get up and running with minimal tweaking. There is no programming to learn or complicated settings to set up before you begin importing your data.

Although I didn’t need to contact support, I found the documentation to be of high quality and easy to understand for someone with an average WordPress skill level. Video guides are especially helpful as they provide a detailed guide to different functions within the plugin.

For someone who will only use the plugin occasionally, the price is a bit high. You can save a lot by purchasing the add-on plugin along with the standard one.
