Divi Theme Review for WordPress in 2022

Consider using Divi for your WordPress website?

We’ll show you how Divi works and help you make a decision about whether this theme is the best for your needs.

Divi is a multipurpose theme that combines a traditional theme and the drag-and-drop Divi Builder. It also has a separate plugin.

You can either use the Divi theme as a “regular” theme where you set up your header/footer/layouts using Divi’s built-in Customizer options. You can also use Divi Theme Builder, which allows you to design your entire site with Divi’s visual interface, starting with Divi 4.0.

It’s easy to use it for anything, from blogs to eCommerce shops, portfolios, business websites, and…well, just about everything else.

Explore the Divi Theme’s Key Features

This section will explore the various “parts” that make up the Divi theme. This will help you to understand the next section. I’ll show you how Divi can be used to build your website.

Divi Builder

Divi Builder is the Divi theme’s most distinctive feature. It’s unlike any other themes. It is a drag-and-drop, visual page builder that you can integrate into your theme. It can be compared to other tools like Beaver Builder and Elementor Pro. It’s part of the theme, but you can also purchase it separately as a plugin.

These tools allow you to create 100% custom designs, even if you don’t know any code. With the visual, drag and drop interface, you can do all . They are similar to Squarespace and Wix, but for WordPress.

The visual interface below will allow you to see how your design will appear to visitors.

The layout can be controlled with columns and rows, and new content can be added by adding “modules”. You might have one module that is used for a button and another for an image. Another for a pricing table. A third module could be used for a contact form.

Each module (and each row/column), has its own settings that allow you to control styling, spacing, and other features. You can edit a Contact Form module to control its fields, styles and notifications.

Drag-and-drop allows you to create custom designs by combining the various settings and editing them. This is Divi’s “killer app”, and it has many advantages over other themes.

Divi Theme Builder

Divi Theme Builder is the same interface as Divi Builder. The main difference is that you can apply the Divi Builder directly to your theme templates. You can use it to design the header of your theme or the blog post template for all your blog posts.

You can customize 100% of your website using Divi Builder’s visual interface. This is a powerful feature. You could, for example, create a template for your blog posts. All your blog posts would use this design. No need to recreate it each time.

You could also create different templates to blog posts in different categories. This allows for a lot more flexibility.

It’s not limited to blog posts. It can be used for any type of content. This feature can be used to create templates for WooCommerce stores, such as single product pages or store layouts.

Divi Library Templates

Divi Builder allows you to create 100% custom designs, but you don’t need to do that because Divi includes a large template library. These pre-made designs can be imported and customized 100% using the Divi Builder.

Divi currently has more than 1,383 premade layouts that you can choose from. These layout packs are divided into and 187 layout packages . A “layout package” is a collection of themed templates. A set of templates that can help you build a website for a restaurant, for example.

To save your designs as templates, you can also save them. You can also save sections as “Global Modules”, which allow you to reuse the same template in multiple places and then update them all by simply editing the original template.

Divi Theme Customizer Options

Divi makes it easy to customize the layout and style of your theme using the WordPress Customizer. It allows you to see any changes you make in real-time. It works exactly like any other WordPress theme. You can customize your header by opening the Customizer and making changes.

You could also choose to skip these settings altogether and use the Theme Builder instead (more details later).

Divi Theme Options

Divi comes with its own backend theme options section. You can use this area to control more functional/integration/global settings. It allows you to easily add code snippets (such as the Google Analytics tracking codes) to your theme.

How to create a website with Divi

Let’s now look at how Divi works.

There are two options for creating a Divi website, as I have already mentioned.

  1. The Divi theme’s Customizer options can be used to control your header and footer. You can then use the Divi Builder for control of the actual page content.
  2. Divi Theme Builder can be used to create 100% of your website using the visual editor. This includes your header, footer and other elements.

Option 1: Use theme options + Divi

The first option is the best way to create a Divi website. This is the quickest way to get started with Divi and gives you lots more control.

Configuring the Divi Theme Options

To set up your header, footer and blog layouts, first, use the Divi settings within the native WordPress Customizer.

To control additional details, you could also use the backend Divi settings.

Divi Builder for Content Design

Once you have created the “canvas” of your website (e.g. Once you have the basic “canvas” for your site (e.g., your header and footer), then you can use Divi Builder to create your actual content. You could use it to create your homepage, “about” page and “contact” pages, for example:

This method gives you a lot more control over building your custom website. You can opt for the second option if you need more control.

Option 2: Use Divi’s Full Theme Builder

The new Theme Builder is another way to create websites. You have more control over every aspect of your website with the visual, drag and drop interface. This is also more labor-intensive because you must design each element.

You can mix and match, however. You could, for example, use Theme Builder to manage your header but still use the default footer you have set in the WordPress Customizer.

You can set it up by going to Divi-Theme Builder. You’ll be prompted to Add Global Body/Header/Footer. These are the default templates Divi will use to create those sections of your site.

“Body is the template for a blog post, page or other content. In other words, everything between your header and footer.

You can create templates for specific content types in addition to the global templates. This gives you tremendous flexibility.

You could, for example, use one template for blog posts and then create a template for review posts. This will automatically override the global template. Here are some examples of the options available to target your templates.

This method is more time-consuming and complicated overall. It does however give you much more flexibility. It’s up to you to decide if this trade-off is worth the effort. Or, if you prefer the first method which is perfectly fine.

Divi Theme Review FAQ

Let’s wrap up. I’d like to quickly answer some questions about Divi.

1. Divi is it a good theme? Is Divi worth the investment?

Yes! Yes! If you only care about the drag-and drop Divi Builder, this is a great choice.

5. SEO: Is Divi a good theme?

Yes, Divi has all the essential features that WordPress themes need to be able to rank well in search engines.

The theme of your WordPress site is only one aspect of SEO. However, creating great content and getting backlinks are more important.

6. Is Divi the only theme that locks you in?

No! You don’t have to use the Divi theme. The Divi Builder can be used as a standalone plugin and works with any WordPress theme. You can start with Divi theme and install the Divi plugin to change themes. Your content will still work fine.

It is different than how it used to be. This is why some older Divi theme reviews might discuss lock-in as an issue.

Final Conclusions of Divi Theme Review: Should You Use It

Let’s now get to the important question: Should you use Divi?

Let’s take a look at some of its strengths…

design flexibility is Divi’s biggest strength in comparison to other themes. Divi Builder is visual and drag-and-drop, so you can create 100% custom designs with no need for any code. This theme is unlike any other.

Divi 4.0’s theme-building features make Divi Builder even more powerful. You can design the header, footer and templates for your blog posts, pages, or other content, as well as the template. WooCommerce products

It is possible to create multiple templates, and then “conditionally” apply them on different areas of your website. This opens up many useful options.

This is more labor-intensive than a “plug and play” theme but it gives you more flexibility. You can also import any of the thousands available templates if you don’t want to create everything from scratch.

Divi is a great choice for those who want to create custom designs without having to learn any code.
